Snow Day

Last Friday, where I live received a very rare scatter of snow. Because it is literally the rarest thing ever, when it snows, you have to make the most of it and have a snow day, which is exactly what I did!

My Mini Winter Wonderland Garden!

We started the day with a little snowball fight on the way to get some snacks, but someone turned into a wuss because he was getting wet (even though he started it).

We braved the conditions and went to my boyfriends house (which is a lot more in the country than mine), and took his cutie woof out for a snowy walk!

We took a short cut, which was the worst idea because though there was snow, there was also the sloshiest mud ever, which proved difficult to walk in!

Bobby enjoyed his walk in the snow very much, and kept getting snow balls stuck to his feet!

We finished the day with a lovely rocky road hot chocolate, with all the trimmings, and a gorgeous chicken curry! Followed by some cheeky snacks, and watching the Biggest Loser.

Hope everyone else enjoyed and may still be enjoying the snow in the UK and everywhere else!

January Wishlist

1. Calf High Buckle Boots (Ebay)- These have an incredibly long name, so I had to narrow it down! But I've had my eye on these for a few weeks now, but I don't know whether to just get them or not. Through Winter, I haven't had any warm boots to wear, I've been living in High Tops and Dolly Shoes! This is because pretty much all my shoes have holes in them (don't know how or why) and I can't think of anything worse than walking around getting cold, wet feet in the rain. I'm always a little reluctant buying shoes on the internet, because I can be different sizes in different shoes, which is very very annoying!

-

2. Topshop Geo Studded Holdall- I know everyone has this bag, but you can see why; I love it! Unfortunately it is a little pricey for me, I don't think I could part with £40!

-

3. Essie Matte About You- I saw a girl instagram this on her nails, and it looked gorgeous! You apply the it on top of your varnish and it gives a smooth matte finish. I don't paint my nails as much as some people, because it takes a bloody decade to dry, and it always chips, but I think I'd definitely be persuaded to paint them more if I had this in my life!

-

4. Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1- I think I'm in love with this. My boyfriend got one for his birthday, and every time he has it on him, I ask to use it! It would probably take me months and months to save up for one though, and none have been in any January sales. I've got the Samsung Galaxy S 2, and I love it, so i really want to get my hands on one of these!

-

5. Wreck this Journal- I've seen these for a while now, and not really thought much about it. But when me and my boyfriend were in London, I saw these in Urban Outfitters. Maybe seeing it in the flesh got me interested, who knows! I think it'd be great for if you're bored or feeling creative!

-

6. Davina Wrap Over Detail Tulip Shape Dress (boohoo)- This dress was on my Christmas list, but I didn't end up getting it. I love how it's a simple design, but looks so different from other dresses and has it's own versatile shape. It is also very flattering! I do have a lot of black dresses, but it goes with anything, and is meant to make you look thinner! I think black goes with my blonde hair nicely. I think this might be a must have for my wardrobe!

What's on your January Wishlist? :)

Handmade Jewellery!

So as I said I was going to in my first post, this post is going to be about my handmade earrings! I hope you enjoy :)
-
I first tried out making earrings with my Mum as a hobby a few years ago. We'd go along to peoples houses who did it too, and have some lunch, and really made a day out of it, which was fun. It was only a few weeks ago, after a big break from making them, that I wanted to start again. Seeing as i'm having a break from everything, I thought it would also be good for me to keep being creative. I find it really satisfying to complete something stylish and having fun doing it! Luckily we still had all the bits and bobs to make them with, so I could get straight into it.

There aren't as many beads in the collection as there were a few years ago, but I will purchase more the next time I go into town, so I can make lots of different kind of earrings.

If you want to start making your own earrings, then the basics you need are headpins, which are the base of the earring. I just have gold and silver ones.
Some hooks.
I like to have some little beads to put at the end of the headpins, so none of the other bigger beads fall off.
And 3 sets of pliers.

-
I'm planning on selling the earrings I make, but as of now, i'm having a bit of trouble setting up an account to sell them! For the time being, if anyone is interested on purchasing any items please don't hesitate to email me! All earrings are priced at £5.00, with a £1.50 sending fee. As I am new to this, I will only be sending in the UK. My Email address is: katherinemcm1995@hotmail.com

Here are pictures of the earrings I currently have on offer:

If anyone would like me to do a video explaining how to make earrings, just let me know!

I hope you liked this post :)

2012

2012 had it's ups and downs, but I'd like to talk about all the ups I had, because there were a fair few.
-
To start with at the beginning of summer (where this collage starts), me and my boyfriend went to London for a couple of days, which was lovely, and i'd never been on a trip away on my own before! We spent the first day sight seeing and walking around, and the second day going to museums and shopping. But, as I keep reminding him, we only had a couple of hours to shop because SOMEONE made us walk all the way from the museums to Oxford Street! But we still had a great time! The picture to the top right is of us in our bed and breakfast room; I was feeling a bit under the weather as my hay-fever decided to make an appearance!
-
Had a lovely summer with my boy, having lots of picnics and trips out with fun and games trying to fit two bikes into his tiny car! There is a yearly boat festival type thingy where I live, where all the posh totties come and race their yachts. There's lots of live music and a big firework display at the end. We thought we'd make the most of it and get dressed up, we had a great time!
-
This was technically is 2011, but last year I got much closer to two of the loveliest girls who are so much fun to be around, and I love them lots! We went on a trip to London with College, which to be honest, was pretty boring, but we made it into a more fun day! The third picture in at the top is of us sat on what we called the 'big golden poo', near the V&A and the Natural History Museum.
-
I was also very surprised but over the moon to see one of my photos in the College prospectus, I was really proud of myself and it made me feel like my work was good enough.
-
James (my boyfriend) celebrated his 19th birthday, and I got to share it with him, which was lovely! We spend the majority of the afternoon/evening trying to make the best cake ever, and I think we pulled it off. It was just a massive chocolate feast!

-
I hope everyone had a great 2012, and best wishes from me for 2013!

Introduction to me!

For my first blog post I thought I'd do a little introduction to me and my interests, so if anyone stumbles across my blog, you can get to know me!
Hi :) My name is Katherine, I'm 17, and from the South Coast of England. I was in my second year of A Levels, but I decided to take a break for various reasons. I'm a very keen photographer. Having studied it for 4 years, I'd love to pursue it as a career in the editorial and advertising industry.

I am an only child, which can sometimes be a little lonely, but I have a great relationship with my parents, and my Mum is one of my best friends. I also have a wonderful boyfriend who is another of my best friends.

I would describe myself as more creative than academic, I like doing hands on things than processing information (which I'm not very good at doing!). I'm very shy around people I don't know, people at the College I went to must have thought I physically can't speak! Though I can be quiet, I am friendly, and love meeting new people, so please do feel free to chat or ask any questions you might have!

The one thing I really love to do is sit down and watch Beauty Guru's on YouTube, I could literally watch them for hours! Some of my favourites are Zoella, Sprinkle of Glitter, Beauty Crush, Tanya Burr, Fleur de Force, sunbeamsjess and SianShutterbug. It was through looking at some of their blogs which got me interested in me starting one. So here I am!

Blog posts I have planned include a little fashion look book of a few items I bought in London, and how I plan to start making my own earrings. Stay tuned!
